Individual course of training ESP® prevention and rehabilitation therapist – Training


Increasingly, even younger people who have arthritic problems and osteoporosis. In recent years, the two diseases are increasingly become the main focus since they represent a major problem for the economy. Science also deals more often with such problems. In this course you will receive the latest ESP insights in the field of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis and the corresponding effective physiotherapeutic treatments.


Leadership Skills: The / The participant can expertly advise by applying the newly learned diagnostic tests and methods of intervention patients and perform an indication related movement therapeutic intervention for osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. The / the participant can take a professional level in conversation with colleagues and medical disciplines. The / the participant can after this course patients and customers with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis in a responsible and professional support and advice in the diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive process.


Medical education area
The participants know:

the specific physiology and functionality of the connective tissue of cartilage and bone.the different surgical techniques and their clinical relevance for rehabilitation.

Physiotherapy educational area
The participants know:

different pathologies / injury to cartilage and bone.
the different physiotherapy tests in osteoarthritis and osteoporosis and can practically run and interpret.
the guidelines for active rehabilitation in patients with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.
the relevant exercises of the lower extremity and can virtually run.
Participants can create with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis rehabilitation program in patients.

Check Your Understanding
Using peer feedback and feedback from the instructors while in practical exercises, self-regulation of learning objectives based on a case. During the course, a repetition of the learning is performed with a few short self-reflection regularly.

Per day: 3.5h theory (input units) and 3-5h practice (small groups)
The theory is preparing the foundations for practical implementation.
In practice various skills and rehabilitation methods are practiced and deepened. In addition, a variety of tasks to deepen understanding and control participants are submitted.

Harald Bant, Holland physiotherapist, sports physiotherapist, physical rehabilitation Trainier, Director and Officer European Sports Physiotherapy (ESP) Education Network, owner physiotherapy practice, medical fitness and reintegration in Gennep, director of Nexus education and training institute for the therapist, co-editor of the Journal of Sports Physiotherapy Thieme Verlag.

Ophey Martin (1975) has done his Bachelor Physiotherapy and Master’s program in Nijmegen (NL). Since 2003 he has worked for the ESP Education Network with, among other topics Evidence Based Practice, shoulder and spine rehabilitation. As a therapist, he works in Nijmegen in private practice and provides both ADL patients as well as many amateur and professional athletes there. He is co-editor of the Thieme reference book “Sports Physiotherapy” which was published in 2011. He is also co-editor of Thieme-magazine “Sport Physio”.


Physiotherapist / doctor / doctor / physical education teacher / sport and exercise scientist
The course builds on the curriculum of colleges for physical therapy. It is expected, therefore, that the knowledge and skills to be mastered on the anatomy, physiology of bone and cartilage.
